
I just stumbled upon the wonderful work of photographer
Troy Paiva. I was looking through his work and one photo struck me as familiar. I noticed that we had both been inspired by the same abandoned cafe/gas station in California. I took a picture of it for reference in 2004 on my way to Palm Desert California. I had forgotten where it was exactly but Troy describes it as being..."off the freeway in
Yermo, California, a quiet high desert roadside town east of
Barstow. " I used it as the backdrop for my painting "Excavation Site". The
foreground in my painting comes from construction workers in Salt Lake City. Check out Troy's work (link above).
